Palin for President

A colleague at work sent this site to me. Giggles abound as you click on the various items in the room. Apparently, it updates and changes too.

GOTV Weekend

Everyone out there - VOTE. Don't forget that the Presidential election is only a part of the ticket. It might be top of the ticket, but keenly look all offices, including your local State Representatives, etc. Most of the day-to-day operations like traffic, parking, taxes (both sales and property) are dictated by State and City Governments.

Don't get caught up in the hoopla of presidential politics, and not cast your vote because you think it doesn't matter. Just look around your street or neighborhood and realize that most services you receive are provided by local government. Know the candidates and where they stand. Make a real difference and VOTE on Tuesday.

Cat chasing their tail

Or at least the Dude's version of the above. I've got years of this sort of amusement ahead of me. Woohoo!

And "NO, we didn't tie the balloon to his leg."

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Gotta check out this movie if you haven't already. I love these comedies, this one was written by Jason Segel (who stars in it), aka Marshall on How I Met Your Mother. After getting over the shock of seeing nude frontal shots, I knew I had no idea what was going to happen next. I like that they didn't go for cheap laughs and the humor is subtle and sort of sweet.

Definitely a must. It made Gunnar laugh aloud (which is rare).

Bath time

The Dude and I ventured all over the city, into Cambridge and even Malden this weekend. No surprise that he passed out by 9 o'clock. I captured his playfulness this evening during bathtime. Usually I don't think of taking a picture, but now he's getting more playful and self-assured in his little bath that he's too cute not to take a picture.

Our evening with Sedaris

Sunday evening was a fantastic evening. Not because we had a sitter and we're getting out of the house sans baby; and not because the Chargers demolished the New England Patriots; but because David Sedaris was on his game.

If you have not read Sedaris, check him out. Gunnar suggested I read him, and for the past two years I've taken Gunnar to see Sedaris on tour for his birthday present. I love giving gifts that I can enjoy too. I love hearing his stories. Maybe its the writer in me that admires his ability to tell stories of his life with such wit and humor. I suspect I enjoy seeing him because I'm enamoured with the idea that he gets paid to go on tour and READ his stories, not just write them.

He read a story on voting that should be in an upcoming issue of the New Yorker. Pick it up, I know I will.

What??

Over the weekend Gunnar and I met some friends at Joshua Tree in Davis Square, Somerville, MA. I would highly recommend it for the food (chicken quesos were packed) and the green salad was fresh. However, the most annoying thing happened to me, at the end of the evening, and left a terrible after taste.

We paid the checks, chatting and finishing up our beers. I had the Seadog blueberry ale. I love blueberry ales because you actually get blueberries, which are the pseudo cherry on top (only at bottom because they sink). WELL, just as we sat there, a guy walks by and swoops by clearing my beer that isn't finished. Blueberries and all. I was so irritated that I mentioned the incident to our server who apologized for her Manager (the swooper), but it didn't bring back my blueberries. Hardly worth another beer I suppose, or a free anything. Needless to say, I left unsatisfied.

Next time my hand doesn't leave the glass. Seriously.

Sitting in the high chair

Friday night, the Dude and I went to Wagamama and sat on the patio. We people watched, but the big event of the evening. He was sitting in the high chair all by himself throughout our dinner.

Going for the remote, of course
