Lady of leisure

Well, not entirely my choice. Suggestion by the bf since I'm leaving for holiday on Thursday. Since Tuesday of last week, my ankle/foot has been hurting. It doesn't seem to get worse, nor better. So, this week, I've hunkered down and tried to relax. I escaped twice for a little bit of fresh air, only to run a couple of errands.

I'm nervously watching the third period of the Canucks v. Ducks game; and the Ducks just scored the go-ahead goal. Gunnar and I brainstormed my ability to follow the Canucks while I'm abroad. It will be near impossible to catch live games b/c time change, means the games start between 1-3 in the morning.

Less than 5 minutes left, and I must focus. Sending good vibes to the boys. Go Canucks!

What a game 7

It has been a stressful few days since the boys won game 5. After dropping the next two games, I admit, I was concerned. Seriously. Luckily, we have Luongo. Amazing goalie to watch. After a couple of close calls and 2 empty netters - Game Over for the big D. Sorry Modano. A cross bar away (feels good to be on the other side, remember 94 and Lafayette?).

So, I'm a bit stressed to think that I'll miss games while abroad. However, I missed games here (not televised on East Coast), so at least I'm distracted with vacation activities.

I'm thrilled (with several other millions of 'Nuckle heads) with their advancement to the second round. Bring on the Ducks! Here are some great pictures of the boys, pulled from http://www.theprovince.com/. I told you, Linden is the man!

Linden is the Man!

Let me say, I love Trevor Linden. I LOVE him.

Sadly, the game was not shown out here, so I didn't get to watch it. Sounds like I didn't miss much scoring, but I watched highlights of Linden's goal. I wish I were in Vancouver with all the other Nuck'le heads, rooting for the guys. The city will be buzzing on Thursday.
All I can hope for is that the game is on TV. If there is a god...
Go Canucks!!!

sleep deprived

Go Canucks! So worth being sleep deprived, seeing them win in OT. Poor Modano. What a great game (at least the last two periods). I'm trilled that Linden got an assist in the game winning goal. It is hard, keeping with all the happenings, but I've managed to do a much better job this season than last. West Coast coverage is limited out here. Hardly get to see them on television, let alone, live in person. The only mitigating factor is when the Canucks go all the way, I might be abroad. DARN IT. The one time I travel abroad in (forever), and I'm going to miss the fun!
Anyone know of American pubs in London that might show the game?? Let me know. However, we don't want to jinx them so don't let me know to soon.

Go Canucks!!

TGIF

Thank goodness this week is over. Not a highlight for the record books. Forced to defend my honor at work, which I did successfully. Hope the weather guy is correct and tomorrow will bring warmer temps (before we get another nor'easter), because tennis courts are calling my name. A few swats and an hour later, I'm sure I'll feel much lighter. Luckily, this week is closing out quickly. Adieu!

a funny forward...

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (Written by kids)
You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like,
if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming.
-- Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.
-- Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?
Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.
-- Camille, age 10

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?
You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.
-- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?
Both don't want any more kids.
-- Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?
Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
-- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that Usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
-- Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?

I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns.
-- Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?

When they're rich.
-- Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that.
- - Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do.
-- Howard, age 8

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them.
-- Anita, age 9 (bless you child)

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED?
There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there?
-- Kelvin, age 8

And the #1 Favorite is.......
HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?
Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck.
-- Ricky, age 10

Rain out

Rain Rain go away because I have Sox tickets today...

Still coming down. Game time is 4:05, and it appears that a postponement will be in order. These were the big plans for the week, so I'm bummed.
Update - Cancelled due to inclimate weather. Rescheduled for May 3. However, I'll be on a plane heading for London. Lucky Gunnar gets to go with his friends. Damn this weather.

Chellie Pingree declares

Exciting news for the week is that Chellie Pingree will run for Maine's first congressional seat. Current Rep. Tom Allen seems to be stepping down, perhaps to run for Senate. Everyone on the team from 2002 must be as excited as I am. Full-circle. Contribute if you can to Chellie's campaign. Check out what people are saying http://www.commonblog.com/tag/Chellie%20Pingree. Chellie served as the President of Common Cause prior to her recent move as candidate. She inspires all those around her and will make a great advocate for all people, not just Mainers, WHEN she is elected to Congress. I'll post her site, once it is up.
